Blogger Spotlight-Erin from That One Geek Girl

One of the best parts about running this blog is having the ability to meet some really cool people, and some of the coolest people that I have met have led me to really cool blogs. I’ve said it before, no one’s blog is 100% original but everyone’s voices are different so there are blogs that I love to read because I love the writer, and I love the passion that they show for what they are writing. They are fun and interesting to read and they inspire me to get better and better in my blog.

So I decided to do a feature (inspired by Megan at the Nerdy Girlie’s Geek Girls Gab), where I profile the bloggers that I love. Not only do I get to find out more about them, but I also get to share them with you guys! Most of the bloggers that I follow are like me, nerd girls, fan girls and they enjoy the same things as me, and you! Every blogger that I profile is one that is super important to me and I urge you to check them out!

If you are interested in being featured on the Blogger Spotlight, feel free to contact me, please! I would love to hear from you, to feature you on the blog and to help spread the word about it!

Sara: Tell me a Little Bit About Yourself:

Erin: My name is Erin. I’m a 24-year-old grad student living in southern California. I’m currently studying to be a Children’s/Young Adult librarian.

When I was little, I hated to read. That all changed when I was 11-years-old. I don’t actually remember reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Philosopher’s Stone for the first time. But I did read it, and in turn, I fell in love with reading. By the summer after 5th grade, I was volunteering at my local library. In 7th and 8th grade I won awards for reading the most books of any student for the year. It is true that one good book can change your life.

Sara: Tell me about your blog:

Erin: Now I’ve decided to share that love. I’ve had a goodreads.com account for the pastfew years, but I’ve never really felt that my reviews were being seen. So, here we are. My own website devoted to book reviews and book recommendations (with some t.v. and movies thrown in for fun).

I would love to hear back from all my readers with comments, questions, critiques, and praise (mostly praise. :) ). If you have something to say, I would love to hear it.

Sara: What inspired you to start your blog?

Erin: I’ve had a livejournal for the past 10 years, but I was inspired to make a review blog by my dear friends Sara, a.k.a. Whatanerdgirlsays.  I was constantly getting updates about her awesome blog posts and thought, “I want to do something like that!”  And a few months later, here I am!

Sara: What is your favorite nerd memory?

Erin: Oh my goodness. This is a really hard question.  Well, here’s a list:

Midnight book releases for Harry Potter, My first Comic Con 2005 (Serenity panel), Meeting the TMI cast at Wondercon AND Comic Con, Meeting a bunch of YA authors at the Siege and Storm book release, Disney’s 50th anniversary.   There’s too many memories to choose from!

Sara: What are you most looking forward to, as far as new books/movies/etc?

Erin: Another tough one!  Hmm…The City of Bones movie, City of Heavenly Fire, Champion by Marie Lu, Allegiant by Veronica Roth, Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi, Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout, House of Hades by Rick Riordan, The Shadowhunter’sCodex…and so many more!

Sara: As my blog is mostly about books and reading, what are some of your favorite books or authors to read?

Erin: These questions aren’t getting any easier!  Jane Austen, J.K. Rowling, Cassandra Clare, Lynn Flewelling, Tamora Pierce, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Gail Carson Levine, Gail Carriger.  Beauty by Robin McKinley, The Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu,  Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Ender’s Game/Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card.  And so many others!  Pretty much everything on my bookshelf!

Sara: What are some of your favorite blogs to follow?

Erin: WhatANerdGirlSays, FanGirlFeeels, City of Shadowhunters, I Am Divergent, Novel Reality, Jenna Does Books

Sara: Who is your fictional crush (what, we’re nerd girls, we all have one!)

Erin: Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, James Carstairs from The Infernal Devices, Magnus Banes from The Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices and Captain Frederick Wentworth from Persuasion
